Riyadh Bus Adds 7 New Routes Linking Neighborhoods

Riyadh Bus has expanded its network with seven new routes connecting residential neighborhoods to key commercial hubs and metro stations, ahead of the wider rollout of the city's public transport system. The additions strengthen daily links between homes, workplaces and shopping destinations across the capital.

The new neighborhood-to-hub routes are: Route 932 (Al Rabea district to Al Yasmeen station), Route 933 (Al Nuzha to Al Taawoun station), Route 942 (Al Khaleej district to Al Rawda station), Route 944 (Al Andalus station to Al Khaleej station), Route 945 (Al Khaleej district to Al Nahda station), Route 947 (Al Shuhada station to Al Munsiah station) and Route 948 (Al Yarmouk district to Al Yarmouk station).

A separate service now links King Saud University Station to the Diplomatic Quarter, running daily from 06:30 to midnight, with a focus on embassy and commercial area access. Overall, the network operates 54 main routes and 33 feeder routes, with more than 800 buses serving around 2,900 stations and stops.

Fares and passes

Most routes run from about 05:00 to midnight from Saturday through Thursday, with service extended to 01:00 on Fridays and later hours during Ramadan and on some routes. The standard single fare is SAR 4, valid for two hours from first check-in, allowing transfers within that window without paying again. Children up to six years ride free, while seniors, students, cancer patients and families of martyrs qualify for 50% off, subject to eligibility.

As of January 2026, new semester passes for students and annual passes for all passengers offer unlimited travel across the network. Annual passes are valid for 12 months from activation, and pricing is set to be cheaper than buying individual trips for the same period. The expansion aims to make public transport a more practical everyday option for residents ahead of further metro growth.
