Riyadh Metro is now fully operational across the capital, offering residents and visitors a modern network of 6 lines, 176 km of track, and 85 stations. The full network became active on 5 January 2025 following a phased opening that began in December 2024.
The six colour-coded lines cover major corridors of the city. Line 1 (Blue) runs the Al Olaya–Al Batha corridor, Line 2 (Red) follows King Abdullah Road, Line 3 (Orange) serves Al Madinah Al Munawwarah Road, and Line 4 (Yellow) links King Khalid International Airport. Line 5 (Green) covers King Abdulaziz Road, while Line 6 (Purple) connects Abdulrahman bin Auf Road with Sheikh Hassan bin Hussein bin Ali Road. An 8.4 km extension of Line 2 to Diriyah Gate, adding five new stations, has been awarded and is under development.
Tickets and the Darb card
The system is operated under the oversight of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City. Travel is handled through the metro's own Darb ecosystem, so platforms such as أبشر, مقيم, قوى, ناجز, نفاذ and توكلنا are not used for ticketing or routine metro access.
Riders use the Darb card, available in plastic and digital formats. To get started, download the Darb app, register a profile, then load balance or buy a pass either in the app or at a station ticket vending machine. Tap the card or QR code at station gates and on Riyadh buses to validate each trip.
Standard metro fares are stored on the Darb card: SAR 4 for a two-hour pass, SAR 20 for three consecutive days of unlimited travel, and SAR 140 for one month of unlimited rides. Validity is counted from the first activation tap. For inquiries, the unified call center is available on 19933, with service updates published through the official Riyadh Metro digital channels.
