Riyadh Metro is now offering a discounted student ticket aimed at encouraging school and university students to use public transport. The pass is priced at SAR 260, is valid for 120 days from activation, and is available in standard class only.
The student ticket is described as a 50% discount for school and university students, applied when a registered darb card is issued for the first time along with proof of eligibility. The new annual and student ticket products came into effect on 1 January 2026.
For comparison, regular fares stand at SAR 4 for 2 hours, SAR 20 for 3 days, SAR 40 for 7 days, and SAR 140 for 30 days in standard class. First-class fares for the same periods are SAR 10, SAR 50, SAR 100, and SAR 350.
Why it matters
For students who commute daily during the academic year, the 120-day pass offers a predictable, lower-cost way to travel across the network. A single SAR 260 pass can cover a large part of a school term, easing transport budgets for families.
Students can find further details and updates through the darb app, with additional support directed to 19933. Exact application steps and eligibility verification are handled through the official channels announced for the student ticket.
