Riyadh to Host Middle East's First Robot Kickboxing

Riyadh is set to host the Middle East's first humanoid robot kickboxing event on 9 September 2026, as part of a new robotic sports initiative called CyberHero. The debut showcase, branded CyberHero x Riyadh, will begin at 9:00 PM local time, with doors opening around 8:30 PM at a venue in the capital that is expected to be announced soon.

The show features 10 full‑size humanoid robots — EngineAI (also branded Zhongqing) T800 models — each standing about 1.73 metres tall and weighing between 75 and 85 kilograms. With 29 degrees of freedom, the robots can walk, run, punch, kick, turn, and even stand back up after falling. They will compete in a purpose‑built professional combat arena constructed specially for the event.

Organisers describe the roughly two‑hour show as a fusion of robotic combat and live entertainment, complete with lighting, sound and visual effects, immersive elements, and live music from international DJs during the matches. Two professional esports and fighting‑game players will act as pilots, controlling the humanoid robots through advanced control systems that link gaming skills with real‑world robotic movement.

A launch for a global series

CyberHero x Riyadh is positioned as the first in a planned global series of robotic sports events set to travel to major cities worldwide, with the Riyadh edition serving as the launch showcase. The event is described as a closed‑door, invite‑only style show rather than a large open public festival.

The initiative is also linked to a planned CyberHero Saudi–China Scholar Program, aimed at connecting young Saudi and Chinese talent and robotics ecosystems, using the Riyadh event as a platform for cross‑border technology and education collaboration. As of early September 2026, no specific public venue name, seat map, ticket category, or ticket price has been officially announced.
