Riyadh has been selected to host the 8th TAFISA World Sport for All Games in 2028, with the Saudi Sports for All Federation chosen as host by the TAFISA General Assembly. The event will mark the first time the games are held anywhere in the Middle East and North Africa.
Organizers expect more than 1,000 participants from over 100 countries, along with upwards of 70,000 visitors throughout the event. Activities are planned across venues and public spaces around Riyadh, bringing together sport, culture, food, music, and education in a single community gathering.
Why it matters
The selection places Riyadh on the global map for grassroots and participatory sport, an area focused on getting people of all ages and abilities moving rather than on elite competition. For residents and families across the capital, the games promise a wide program of accessible activities and the chance to take part alongside visitors from around the world.
The event also reinforces the growing role of sport and active lifestyles in community life across Saudi Arabia, in line with broader national goals to encourage physical activity and attract major international gatherings.
At this stage, no official 2028 dates, registration fees, ticket prices, venue-by-venue schedule, or registration channel have been announced. Saudi Living will share further details as they become available.
