Saudi Arabia is moving forward with a large-scale stadium program that includes 15 venues across five host cities — Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Abha, and NEOM — as part of its proposed program for the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

The proposal is made up of four existing stadiums set for refurbishment, three venues currently under construction, and eight planned new stadiums. Among the named venues are King Salman International Stadium and Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium in Riyadh, King Abdullah Sports City Stadium and Jeddah Central Stadium in Jeddah, Aramco Stadium in Al Khobar, and a new stadium in Abha.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium is planned in Qiddiya, outside Riyadh, with a capacity exceeding 45,000 spectators. A contract valued at SAR 1.15 billion covers the facade design, supply, and installation for the venue. In Al Khobar, Aramco Stadium is planned as a 47,000-seat venue, with completion scheduled for late 2026.

Not every proposed venue is confirmed. The NEOM Stadium has reportedly been placed on hold, and its final status remains unresolved. Reported delivery dates for the wider stadium and related-facility program range from 2026 to 2033.

What it means for residents

For football fans and residents across the Kingdom, the program signals a steady expansion of major sporting infrastructure in the years ahead. For now, no ticket prices, operating hours, visitor booking procedures, or official public-service fees apply to most of the proposed venues, as several remain in the planning or construction phase.
