Saudi Arabia's First Accredited Hiking Trails Open

Saudi Arabia has taken a step forward in adventure tourism after 10 hiking trails within the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve received international accreditation. Announced in late September 2026, they are the first internationally accredited hiking trails in the Kingdom.

The accreditation was granted by the Saudi Climbing and Hiking Federation following a series of site surveys and safety assessments carried out along the routes. The reserve stretches across parts of the Tabuk, Hail, Al-Jouf, and Northern Borders regions, offering a mix of natural landscapes to outdoor enthusiasts.

Why it matters

The move signals a growing focus on outdoor and nature-based tourism in Saudi Arabia, giving residents and visitors new opportunities to explore the Kingdom's diverse terrain through recognised, safety-assessed routes. For hiking communities in Riyadh, Jeddah, and beyond, the accreditation offers reassurance that the trails meet established standards.

At this stage, the names of the 10 individual trails have not been made public. No entry fees, trail fees, booking fees, operating hours, booking steps, or access-permit requirements have been announced, and no official booking channel through government platforms has been confirmed.

Saudi Living will share further details on trail names, access arrangements, and any fees once they are officially announced.
