Saudi Exchange Stays Gulf's Largest at 63% Share

The Saudi Exchange (Tadawul) remained the largest equity market in the Gulf in September 2026, accounting for roughly 63% of the region's total stock-market value. Combined Gulf market capitalization stood at about US$4 trillion during the month.

Tadawul's market capitalization was approximately SAR 9.54 trillion at the end of August 2026, and stood at around SAR 9.299 trillion in the week ending September 24, 2026. Globally, the Saudi Exchange ranked 13th by market capitalization at the close of August 2026.

Saudi Aramco continued to be the market's dominant listing, representing about 65% of the exchange's total value as of August 2026. Foreign holdings on the exchange were valued at roughly SAR 461.52 billion at the end of that month, underlining ongoing international interest in Saudi-listed companies.

Why it matters

For residents and expats, the size and depth of the local market reflect the broader growth of the Saudi economy and its financial sector. A larger, more liquid exchange typically means more investment options, greater transparency, and rising confidence from both local and overseas investors.

The figures also point to the continued expansion of the Kingdom's capital markets, a key pillar of the country's long-term economic diversification plans.
