The National Pavilion of Saudi Arabia has opened at the 61st Venice Biennale in Venice, Italy, marking a significant moment for Saudi visual arts on the international stage. The pavilion is organized by the Visual Arts Commission under the Ministry of Culture.
This year's Saudi participation features artist Dana Awartani, whose work is on display at the Arsenale, Sale d'Armi venue. The exhibition runs from 9 May to 22 November 2026, giving visitors more than six months to experience the presentation.
The Venice Biennale is one of the most prominent international art exhibitions in the world, bringing together national pavilions and artists from many countries. Saudi Arabia's continued presence there reflects the growing role of the Kingdom's cultural sector and its efforts to introduce Saudi talent to a global audience.
Why it matters
For residents and expats interested in the arts, the Saudi Pavilion is another example of how the Kingdom is investing in creative and cultural programs. Showcasing a Saudi artist at a leading global event helps strengthen the country's cultural identity while building connections with the wider international art community.
The pavilion is open to the public throughout the exhibition period. No Saudi-specific fees, permits, or application steps have been indicated for attendance.
