Saudi Premium Residency Explained: Types & Fees

Saudi Premium Residency is one of the most significant shifts in how non-Saudis can live, work, and invest in the Kingdom. It lets eligible foreigners reside in Saudi Arabia without a traditional sponsor, while opening broader rights to work in the private sector, run a business, own qualifying assets, and bring eligible family members. This guide from سعودي ليفنج explains the available products, the fees, who qualifies, and exactly how the application process works.

What Premium Residency actually gives you

The core advantage is independence. Instead of being tied to an employer-sponsor, a Premium Residency holder manages their own status. In general, holders may:

  • Reside in the Kingdom with eligible family members.
  • Work in the private sector and change employer without a traditional sponsor.
  • Conduct business and invest.
  • Own or lease qualifying real estate, subject to applicable restrictions.

Keep in mind that government fees, valid medical insurance, property conditions, and product-specific eligibility are all satisfied separately from the residency itself.

The available products and their fees

There are several specialized products plus two broader premium options. Five specialized products each carry a SAR 4,000 fee:

  • Special Talent Residency — SAR 4,000; a fixed five-year term, renewable once if eligibility continues.
  • Gifted Residency — SAR 4,000; duration depends on the approved product terms.
  • Investor Residency — SAR 4,000; duration depends on the approved product terms.
  • Entrepreneur Residency — SAR 4,000; duration depends on the approved product terms.
  • Real Estate Owner Residency — SAR 4,000; linked to continued ownership or usufruct of qualifying Saudi real estate.

The two broader options are:

  • Renewable one-year Premium Residency — SAR 100,000
  • Unlimited-duration Premium Residency — SAR 800,000 as a one-time fee.

If you pay the renewable one-year fee for several years in advance, you receive a cumulative 2% reduction for each additional year paid up front.

Who is eligible

Some conditions are common across products. You will generally need a valid passport, demonstrated financial solvency, valid medical insurance, a clean criminal record, and a medical report meeting Saudi requirements.

On top of these, each product has its own conditions:

  • Special Talent applicants must meet the relevant qualification, experience, salary, points, recommendation, or employment requirements.
  • Real Estate Owner applicants generally require qualifying residential property or usufruct valued at no less than SAR 4 million.
  • Investor and Entrepreneur applicants must meet the relevant investment, business, financing, employment, or project requirements.

How to apply step by step

Applications are submitted electronically through the official Premium Residency Center portal — not through أبشر, مقيم, قوى, ناجز, or other general government platforms. The Premium Residency Center is the authority responsible for the program. The typical flow is:

  • Create an account on the Premium Residency Center portal.
  • Complete the electronic application form.
  • Select the product that matches your situation.
  • Upload the required documents.
  • Pay the applicable charges.
  • Complete identity verification — نفاذ may be used for this during electronic government procedures.
  • Respond promptly to any requests for additional information.

Once approved, you complete the issuance procedures and obtain your Premium Residency document through the designated official channels.

Choosing the right product

Which option fits you depends on your goals and resources. If you have a strong professional profile, the Special Talent or Gifted products may be the most cost-effective route at SAR 4,000. Property owners meeting the SAR 4 million threshold can consider the Real Estate Owner product, while business builders look at the Investor or Entrepreneur tracks. If you want maximum flexibility without product-specific conditions, the one-year renewable or the one-time unlimited option may suit you better.

Before you apply

Because fees, property thresholds, and eligibility rules can be updated, always confirm the latest figures and document requirements directly on the official Premium Residency Center portal before paying. Prepare your passport, insurance, medical report, and financial and product-specific evidence in advance to avoid delays during verification.
