The municipality reported issuing or renewing 13,221 health certificates during September, a service that covers workers in food, public-health, restaurant, barber, and laundry activities across the Kingdom.
Applications are submitted electronically through Balady, either by the worker or by an establishment representative. The process begins with verifying the establishment licence and the worker's profession, followed by a medical examination at a Ministry of Health-approved centre. Where required, the applicant completes health education before paying the fee and printing the certificate.
The listed service fee is SAR 60, with renewal charged at the same rate as issuance. Processing time ranges from 4 to 10 days. Payment can be made through SADAD, Mada, Visa, Mastercard, and Apple Pay.
Renewal requests can be submitted when five days or fewer remain before expiry, and an approved renewal extends the certificate for 90 days from its expiry date. Validity can be confirmed by scanning the certificate's QR code or through Balady's Health Certificate Status Inquiry using the national ID, Iqama, border number, or certificate number.
Why it matters
Health certificates are a core requirement for staff in food and personal-care businesses, helping safeguard public health. Health education is required in designated cities, including Makkah, Jeddah, Madinah, Taif, the Eastern Province, Al-Ahsa, Qassim, Jazan, Hail, Asir, Tabuk, and Hafr Al-Batin. Completing the steps early helps establishments avoid lapses in certification and keep operations compliant.
