A group of 250 guests from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Umrah and Visit program recently toured the International Fair and Museum of the Prophet's Biography and Islamic Civilization in Madinah, as part of a cultural program organized for visitors to the city.
The permanent museum, which opened in 2021, presents the life of the Prophet Muhammad along with Islamic history and civilization through interactive and multimedia displays. The format allows guests from diverse backgrounds to engage with the material in an accessible, modern way.
The museum visit was one stop within a wider itinerary in Madinah. The program also included visits to Mount Uhud, the Uhud Martyrs' Cemetery, Quba Mosque, the King Fahd Glorious Qur'an Printing Complex, and several other historical landmarks connected to the early history of Islam.
The guest program is implemented by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, which has hosted 1,000 Umrah pilgrims in four groups drawn from 66 countries in recent editions. Its stated purpose is to welcome Hajj and Umrah performers and visitors as royal guests of the Kingdom.
Why it matters
For the wider community, programs like this highlight Madinah's growing role as a cultural and heritage destination alongside its religious significance. They reflect ongoing efforts to enrich the experience of pilgrims and visitors through educational and cultural activities that go beyond the core acts of worship.
