Wael Al-Fayez has been appointed the first managing director of Kings League MENA in September 2026, taking on responsibility for the competition's commercial strategy, key partnerships, and operational growth across the Middle East and North Africa.

Al-Fayez moves into the role after serving as chief commercial officer at the Saudi Pro League, bringing significant experience in sports business and regional partnerships to the fast-growing format.

His appointment coincides with the start of Kings League MENA's 2026 Split 1, which is scheduled to run in Riyadh from 18 September to 30 October 2026. Matches are being held at Cool Arena in Riyadh Boulevard, one of the capital's busy entertainment destinations.

The competition has expanded to 10 teams for this edition, including three Saudi sides. The growth reflects rising local interest in the modern, fast-paced seven-a-side football format that blends sport with entertainment and social media engagement.

Why it matters

For residents and fans in Riyadh, the new leadership and expanded lineup mean more live sporting action close to home, with a dedicated regional team now steering the league's growth across the Middle East and North Africa. The Riyadh schedule gives families and football enthusiasts another reason to visit Riyadh Boulevard during the season.
