Saudi sports and media executive Wael Al-Fayez has been appointed managing director of Kings League MENA, taking up the newly created role in September 2026. He is the first person to hold the position and will oversee the competition's expansion across the region.
In his new role, Al-Fayez leads the regional commercial strategy, partnerships, operations and growth of Kings League across the Middle East and North Africa. He joins from the Saudi Pro League, where he served as chief commercial officer.
His appointment comes ahead of an expanded season. Kings League MENA Split 1 is scheduled to take place in Riyadh from 18 September to 30 October 2026, bringing a full calendar of matches to the capital.
The season features 10 teams in total, including three Saudi sides: DR7, RA2 and Rising Peaks. Their participation gives local fans home representation in the fast-growing seven-a-side format that has drawn large audiences and a strong online following elsewhere.
For the community in Riyadh and beyond, the tournament adds to a busy calendar of sporting and entertainment events in the Kingdom, offering fans a new live experience and families a fresh option for weekend outings during the autumn season.
