More than 1.6 million unified electronic car rental contracts were issued across Saudi Arabia during the second quarter of 2026, reflecting the steady shift toward fully digital rental agreements in the Kingdom. The contracts are processed through the Tajeer portal on the Logisti platform, which serves as the standardized, legally recognized format for all car rentals in the country.
The service allows both contract inquiry and contract creation free of charge. To issue a contract, a rental establishment must be licensed by the Transport General Authority and hold an active primary account on the Naql portal, while each vehicle must have a valid Operating Card.
For renters, the process requires a valid approved ID and a driver's license valid for the full contract period. A verification code is sent to the mobile number registered in Absher for both the renter and any authorized additional driver, adding a layer of identity confirmation before a contract can be completed.
What it means for residents
With all car rental contracts now issued electronically through the official rental-contracts service, the unified format brings clearer terms and easier record-keeping for residents and visitors alike. Active contracts remain valid until their stated expiration date, and any early return is handled
Renters should also note that late-return charges continue to accrue until the vehicle is physically returned, so returning a car on time — or arranging an early return in line with the agreement — helps avoid extra costs. The move toward standardized digital contracts is part of the Kingdom's broader push to streamline everyday transactions for the millions of residents and travelers who rely on rental vehicles.
