Sport Ministry Unveils 2026-2027 Clubs Support Strategy

The Saudi Ministry of Sport launched its Sport Clubs Support Strategy 2026–2027 in Riyadh on 10–11 August 2026, marking the eighth year of the ministry's clubs support program ahead of the new sports season.

The latest edition is built around seven key initiatives: direct support, multi-sports development, governance, fan attendance, facility development, digital transformation, and commercial revenue growth. Financial allocations include SAR 953 million for direct support, SAR 541 million for governance, SAR 517 million for multi-sports, and SAR 54 million for commercial revenue growth.

Under the commercial revenue growth initiative, each Roshn Saudi League club can receive up to SAR 1,000,000, while each Yelo First Division League club can receive up to SAR 500,000. A club that meets all of the strategy's requirements and criteria can receive total support ranging from SAR 100 million to SAR 120 million for the season.

Why it matters

The funding and incentive model is designed to improve institutional performance, achieve financial and administrative sustainability, raise competitiveness among clubs, and strengthen fan engagement and digital services. Rather than a simple grant, support is tied to each club's compliance with defined governance and performance criteria.

The ministry noted that since the program was first launched in 2019, the Saudization rate across the country's sports clubs has reached 73%, reflecting the strategy's wider goal of building a stronger, more sustainable local sports sector. The 2026–2027 strategy is implemented and overseen by the Ministry of Sport.
