SR10.26M in Prizes at King Abdulaziz Qur'an Contest

The latest King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorizing, Reciting, and Interpreting the Holy Qur'an awarded a total of SR 10,260,000 in prizes to 50 male and female winners across five categories. The 46th edition was held in Makkah from Safar 23 to Rabi' Al-Awwal 6, 1448 AH.

This edition marked the largest participation in the competition's history, bringing together 334 contestants — both male and female — representing 133 countries. It also carried the largest prize pool since the competition first launched, rising from SR 4,000,000 in the 45th edition to SR 10,260,000.

A significant milestone this year was the official addition of a women's division, introduced by royal approval starting with the 46th edition. Women now take part on an equal footing with men across all five categories.

The Five Categories

The competition covers memorization of the entire Qur'an memorization of the entire Qur'an with interpretation of its vocabulary; memorization of the entire Qur'an; memorization of 15 juz'; and memorization of five consecutive juz'. Five winners were named in each category for the main prizes.

Beyond the top awards, each participant in the 46th edition received a cash prize of SR 5,000, with the total distributed to participants exceeding SR 1,500,000. Recitation sessions were heard by judging committees for boys and girls across morning and afternoon sittings in Makkah.

For families and Qur'an memorization circles across the Kingdom, the expanded prizes and the inclusion of women underline a growing platform that welcomes reciters from around the world and rewards excellence at every level.
