The Third Saudi Games concluded in Riyadh on 17 October 2024, closing a two-week sporting festival that began on 3 October and brought together competitors from across the Kingdom.
The event featured competitions across 52 individual and team sports, making it one of the largest multi-sport gatherings held locally. The programme included 7 Paralympic sports, 10 demonstration sports, and 15 youth sports, offering a broad platform for athletes of different ages and abilities.
More than 9,000 athletes representing 200 clubs took part in the Games, competing for total prize money that exceeded SAR 200 million. The scale of participation and the value of the prizes reflect the growing investment in sport across the country.
Why it matters
For the local community, the Games highlighted the expanding opportunities for athletes nationwide, from established competitors to emerging youth talent. The inclusion of Paralympic sports also underscored a commitment to accessible and inclusive competition.
Events like these continue to strengthen the Kingdom's sporting culture, encouraging wider participation and giving residents and families more chances to follow and support home-grown talent. With the Third edition now complete, attention turns to building on this momentum in future seasons.
