Several Saudi Sports Events Postponed or Cancelled

A number of major sporting events scheduled across Riyadh and Jeddah have been postponed or cancelled, affecting tennis, cycling, golf, football, motorsport, and esports over the coming weeks and months.

The Six Kings Slam tennis tournament, originally set for 21, 22 and 24 October in Riyadh, has been moved to 27–30 December 2026. The FIFAe Finals 2026, which had been planned for 16–25 October in Jeddah, were also postponed, with no replacement dates announced so far.

Other events have been dropped entirely. The Urban Cycling World Championships, scheduled in Riyadh for 3–7 November 2026, have been cancelled, as has the Saudi Arabian Formula 1 Grand Prix, which had been set for 12–15 November 2026 in Jeddah. The Saudi International golf tournament, planned for 18–21 November at Riyadh Golf Club, has been postponed indefinitely.

In domestic football, three matchweek-nine fixtures in the Saudi Pro League were postponed, including a match involving Al-Nassr.

Why it matters

The changes affect fans, residents and visitors who had planned travel, tickets and schedules around these events. For now, organisers of the Asian Cup 2027 have confirmed that preparations remain on track for the tournament, which is set to run from 7 January to 5 February 2027. No official postponement has been announced for it.
