Riyadh Events Postponed Amid Major Flight Disruption

A wave of major events in Riyadh has been postponed or cancelled in October 2026 following extensive flight disruption at King Khalid International Airport, where roughly 86% of scheduled flights were cancelled between 8 and 25 October.

The scale of the disruption has reshaped the capital's autumn calendar. The Future Investment Initiative and Riyadh Fashion Week have both been pushed to 2027, while the Soundstorm music festival has been cancelled for 2026 altogether.

On the sporting side, the PIF Saudi International golf tournament has been postponed, and the Six Kings Slam tennis tournament has been rescheduled to 27–30 December 2026. The Al Nassr–Al Wasl AFC Champions League match in Riyadh was also postponed. In addition, the EU–Gulf Cooperation Council summit planned for 24 October in Riyadh has been postponed, with no new date confirmed.

Why it matters

For residents and visitors in Riyadh, the changes affect travel plans, ticket holdings, and bookings tied to these events. Many fans, delegates, and attendees had arranged flights, accommodation, and schedules around the original dates.

At this stage, no confirmed cancellation fees, refund rules, or replacement dates have been announced for the affected bookings. Ticket holders and travellers are advised to keep their booking details on hand and to follow announcements from event organisers and their airlines for updated arrangements.
