Saudi women's participation in the Riyadh Marathon reached 25.8% in 2026, a notable rise from 18.7% in 2022. The event was held on 31 January 2026 at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University in Riyadh, with all race categories fully sold out.
The marathon featured four distances to suit different fitness levels: a full 42 km race, a 21 km half marathon, and shorter 10 km and 5 km races. Listed entry fees were SAR 149 for the 42 km, SAR 119 for the 21 km, SAR 85 for the 10 km, and SAR 62 for the 5 km.
Ahead of race day, a public Riyadh Marathon Festival ran from 28 to 30 January 2026 at the same university campus. Entry to the festival was free, giving families and fans a chance to take part in the build-up to the main event.
Why it matters
The steady growth in women's participation reflects the expanding place of community sport in Saudi Arabia and the rising popularity of running as a healthy lifestyle choice. With every race category selling out, demand for organized endurance events in Riyadh continues to climb, pointing to a thriving fitness culture across the capital.
