Jeddah Forum Urges Stronger Youth Sports Pathways

A forum held at the University of Business and Technology in Jeddah brought together more than 350 participants to call for closer cooperation among families, schools, universities, and the sports sector to identify and develop young Saudi athletes.

Organized with the cooperation of the Saudi Universities Sports Federation, the event served as a platform for educators, sports administrators, and specialists to discuss how early talent can be spotted and nurtured through a connected pathway linking classrooms, campuses, and sporting institutions.

Discussions covered a broad range of topics, including talent development, sports management, and sports media. Participants also examined issues tied to student wellbeing, such as health, injury prevention, nutrition, recovery, and the role of sleep in athletic performance.

Why it matters

The call reflects a growing interest in building structured routes for young people who show sporting potential. By encouraging families, schools, universities, and the sports sector to work together, organizers aimed to ensure promising athletes are supported at each stage of their development rather than through isolated efforts.

The emphasis on student health and injury prevention also points to a wider understanding that developing athletes is not only about competition and performance, but also about protecting the long-term wellbeing of young participants across the Kingdom.
