Saudi Sports for All: Grassroots Sports Model Explained

The Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) is expanding non-professional community sport across all 13 regions of the Kingdom, giving citizens and residents more ways to stay active close to home. The federation's programs reach women, men, children, youth, older people, and people with disabilities.

The model relies on partnerships with government entities, sports federations, universities, municipalities, community sports groups, and private organizations. Through these ties, the SFA delivers sports events, recreational programs, fitness and wellness campaigns, competitions, walking and running initiatives, and community sports groups.

A central goal is to lift the share of the population taking part in physical activity to 40% by 2030, in line with wider national health and lifestyle targets.

The Active Program

One flagship initiative is the Active Program, whose fourth edition runs from November 2025 to March 2026 across five Saudi cities. It is aimed at children and youth aged 6 to 18 and features beach sports, yoga, Zumba, entertainment areas, and disability-inclusive activities.

For the community, the appeal is practical: structured, accessible sport for families and all age groups, with options designed to be inclusive. Registration details, eligibility, locations, timings, and any prices differ from one program to another and are published through the federation's official event-registration channels, so participants are encouraged to check the specific requirements for each activity before taking part.
