SAR236M Prize Pool Set for 2026-2027 Racing Season

A prize pool of SAR236.3 million has been announced for the 2026-2027 horse racing season at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh, spread across 50 race days running from 16 October 2026 to 17 April 2027. Racing will be held every Friday and Saturday throughout the season.

Of the total, SAR197.8 million has been allocated to the season's major cups. The centerpiece Saudi Cup is scheduled for 5-6 February 2027, remaining the standout fixture on the calendar.

Higher prizes across flagship cups

Several long-standing cups have received prize increases. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup rises from SAR1.5 million to SAR2 million, while the Crown Prince Cup climbs from SAR1 million to SAR1.5 million. The King Saud Cup and King Faisal Cup both increase from SAR800,000 to SAR1 million each.

The Prince Naif Cup and Prince Sultan Cup each rise from SAR700,000 to SAR800,000, and the King Abdulaziz Racetrack Champion prize grows from SAR300,000 to SAR500,000.

Two new series introduced

The season also brings two new competitions. The Riyadh Crown is a three-round series dedicated to locally bred horses, carrying SAR6 million in prizes. The Riyadh Sword, aimed at imported mares, offers SAR1.537 million in prizes.

For racing fans and the wider community in Riyadh, the expanded season means more race days, richer competition, and additional weekend entertainment options across a six-month calendar at one of the Kingdom's premier sporting venues.
