Taif to Host 22 Horse Races With SAR 2.8M Prizes

Taif Governorate is set to welcome one of the season's biggest racing weekends, as King Khalid Racecourse hosts 22 horse races across Friday and Saturday, 18–19 September 2026, with a total prize fund of SAR 2.8 million.

The two-day programme features 11 races on each evening. Friday's card is highlighted by three 1,200-metre sprint championship cups, with SAR 250,000 awarded for each of those races. On Saturday, attention turns to the 1,400-metre races for fillies and colts sold at the 2025 auction, with SAR 450,000 allocated for each of those contests.

The weekend forms part of a wider 2026 season running from 24 July to 26 September 2026. The full calendar comprises 20 race nights spread across 10 weekends, with a combined SAR 23 million in prizes on offer across 200 races.

For families and racing fans, admission is straightforward and affordable. General admission is typically SAR 10 for adults and SAR 5 for children, with tickets available through the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia's official event-ticketing channel. Ordinary attendance does not require any separate government procedure.

The event adds to Taif's growing profile as a summer destination, offering residents and visitors in the Kingdom a lively weekend of competitive racing at accessible prices during the cooler evenings.
