Taif Racecourse Weekend: 22 Races, SAR2.8M Prizes

Racing fans in Taif are set for a busy weekend as King Khalid Racecourse opens the ninth week of the 2026 Taif horse-racing season, featuring 22 races across Friday and Saturday with total prize money of SAR 2,800,000.

The program is split evenly between the two evenings, with 11 races staged on Friday and 11 more on Saturday. The lineup mixes sprint contests and races reserved for young horses, offering a full card for spectators and competitors alike.

Friday's schedule is headlined by three championship cups run over 1,200 meters, each carrying a purse of SAR 250,000. These short-distance sprints traditionally draw strong fields and fast finishes, making them a highlight for the evening.

On Saturday, attention turns to the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia races, held over 1,400 meters for fillies and colts sold at the 2025 auction. Each of these races offers a larger purse of SAR 450,000, giving newly acquired horses an early stage to prove their potential.

Why it matters

Horse racing remains a deeply rooted tradition in the Kingdom, and the Taif season continues to grow as one of the country's key fixtures. With substantial prize money spread across a two-day card, the event supports owners, trainers, and jockeys while offering the local community a full weekend of competitive sport at King Khalid Racecourse in Taif.
