Al Ahli beat Al Taawoun 2-1 to secure third place

Al Ahli beat Al Taawoun 2-1 away in Buraidah on 11 May 2026 in the Saudi Pro League, a result that strengthened their hold on third place in the standings.

Ivan Toney opened the scoring for Al Ahli before Al Taawoun equalised through Fulgini. The visitors then found the winner through Roger Ibañez, whose goal proved decisive and sealed all three points on the road.

The win completed a season double over Al Taawoun. The two clubs had met earlier on 14 January 2026 in Jeddah, where Al Ahli also won 2-1. Around that January fixture, Al Ahli sat third in the table with figures cited between 72 and 75 points, while Al Taawoun were sixth on 52 points.

For fans in Jeddah and across the Kingdom, the away victory carries added weight in the race for the higher positions on the table, keeping Al Ahli firmly among the top clubs as the season progresses. Securing points on the road in Buraidah is often seen as one of the tougher tests in the league, making the result a notable one for the club's supporters.
