Al Hilal Beat Al Shabab 2-0, See Streak End vs NEOM

Al Hilal defeated Al Shabab 2–0 away at Al Shabab Club Stadium in Riyadh in matchweek 5 of the Roshn Saudi League on 4 September 2026, extending their season start to five wins from five matches and reaching 15 points at the top of the table.

Sergej Milinković-Savić opened the scoring shortly before the hour mark, and Rúben Neves added the second from the penalty spot late in the match. The win extended Al Hilal’s unbeaten run in the Saudi Pro League to 47 league matches, the longest such run in the club’s history.

Perfect Start Ends Against NEOM

The flawless start came to a halt in the following round, when Al Hilal fell 2–0 at home to NEOM S.C. at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh. An own goal by Kalidou Koulibaly around the 15th minute put the visitors ahead, and Amadou Koné doubled the lead shortly before half-time.

The defeat ended both Al Hilal’s 47-match unbeaten run in the Saudi Pro League and their 23-match unbeaten stretch at Kingdom Arena in domestic competition, with the previous home league loss dating back to a match against Al Khaleej in April 2025.

Despite the setback, Al Hilal remained top of the Roshn Saudi League on 15 points from six matches, with rivals including Al Nassr and Al Qadsiah three points behind and holding a game in hand. NEOM S.C., a league club based in NEOM, secured a notable away result and has also drawn 2–2 with Al Taawoun this season.
