Al-Qadsiah Club opened its first-ever AFC Champions League Elite campaign with a 2–1 win over UAE side Al Wasl FC on Monday, 14 September 2026, at Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam, in the opening matchday of the 2026/27 league stage.
The match, which kicked off at around 21:15 local time, was goalless at the interval. Al-Qadsiah then broke the deadlock in the 57th minute and doubled its lead in the 61st. Al Wasl pulled one back late, scoring in the seventh minute of second-half stoppage time, but it was not enough to deny the hosts.
The result earned Al-Qadsiah its first three points in Group C, while Al Wasl remained on zero. The win also stood out as the only victory recorded by a Saudi club on the opening day of the league-stage matches, as the Kingdom's other participating sides failed to win their MD1 fixtures.
The occasion carried added significance for Al-Qadsiah, marking the club's debut appearance in the AFC Champions League Elite and a historic first win at this level. For fans in Dammam and across the Eastern Province, the result offers an encouraging start to a continental journey that puts another Saudi club on Asia's biggest stage.
