A new football stadium is taking shape in northern Al Khobar in the Eastern Province, along the Arabian Gulf coast, as part of the Kingdom's preparations for major international tournaments. Aramco Stadium is planned to open in January 2027, though the opponent for its opening match has not been officially confirmed.

the venue will seat more than 46,000 spectators, with the FIFA bid book listing a capacity of 46,096 seats. It is being prepared as a host venue for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup and the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

For the 2034 World Cup, the stadium is expected to host matches in the group stage, round of 32, and round of 16. After the tournaments conclude, the professional club Al Qadsiah is expected to become the venue's primary tenant.

What's confirmed and what isn't

Despite online reports suggesting the stadium will open with a friendly match against Qatar, there is no confirmed official Saudi announcement to that effect. Likewise, no official ticket prices, opening-event schedule, booking channel, or validity period have been published in the information currently available.

For residents across the Eastern Province and the wider Kingdom, the project signals growing sports infrastructure ahead of back-to-back global events. Saudi Living will share verified details on opening dates, fixtures, and ticketing once official announcements are made.
