More than 70,000 girls across Saudi Arabia are now taking part in the annual Girls' Schools League, with the latest figures showing participation reaching approximately 77,000 players. The competitions fall under the women's football program run by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation.

The league centers on girls' school football and is open to students as part of their school activities. It is not a paid public service, and participation does not involve any registration fee, visa requirement, Absher or Muqeem procedure, or formal public application process.

To support young players, six regional training centers operate across the Kingdom for girls aged 6 to 15. The program is backed by more than 1,000 qualified coaches who oversee training and competition at the school level.

Why it matters

The scale of participation points to the steady growth of organized girls' sport in Saudi Arabia, giving families in cities such as Riyadh and Jeddah more structured opportunities for their daughters to play football from an early age. For residents and expats alike, the expansion of school sports leagues reflects a broader push to widen access to physical activity for young people.

The reported numbers refer to recent program data and should be read as an indication of current participation rather than a separately verified enrollment release for a specific future season.
