Civil Defense: Danger Passed in Khamis Mushayt

The General Directorate of Civil Defense has announced that the danger in Khamis Mushayt Governorate has passed and that the emergency alert previously issued for the area has now been lifted.

Despite lifting the alert, Civil Defense urged residents to continue following its safety instructions. Authorities asked people to completely avoid gathering in the affected areas and to refrain entirely from photography or filming at those sites.

The all-clear message, like the earlier alert, was shared through the national emergency warning system and Civil Defense's official channels. The recent warnings and subsequent reassurances for Khamis Mushayt are connected to recent Houthi attacks on southern Saudi cities, which resulted in injuries and damage before the threat was assessed as no longer present.

Residents were reminded that the official emergency number is 998, which should be used to report any emergency related to the situation in Khamis Mushayt or anywhere else in the Kingdom.

Why it matters

For families and workers across the southern region, the announcement offers reassurance that the immediate threat has ended. Following official guidance—staying away from gathering points, avoiding filming, and keeping the 998 line free for genuine emergencies—helps keep both residents and response teams safe as the situation returns to normal.
