Saudi Arabia's Capital Market Authority (CMA) has compensated more than 20,000 investors who suffered losses linked to past market violations, depositing about SAR 293 million directly into their bank accounts. The payouts cover violations in the shares of Al Kathiri Holding Co. and Anaam International Holding Group.
The compensation is administered through the CMA's investor compensation funds under Article 59 of the Capital Market Law. Violators were ordered to pay a total of SAR 306.4 million, including recovered illegal gains, with some eligible investors receiving individual amounts of more than SAR 6 million. This marks the fourth compensation fund launched within 12 months, following the first announced in July 2025.
Eligible investors are those who traded the affected shares during the violation period and incurred losses tied to the violations. Compensation amounts are calculated based on the scale of the violations, the illegally obtained profits, and the actual financial losses suffered in the affected trades. The current program follows a final court ruling issued in December 2023.
Investors do not need to submit new applications for this fund. The CMA uses trading records and court decisions to identify those eligible, and payments are automatically transferred to registered bank accounts once the final ruling and fund procedures are complete. No application fees apply, and compensation is drawn from a dedicated fund financed by recovered illegal gains.
Why it matters
For residents and expats who invest in the Saudi market, the program strengthens investor protection and reinforces confidence in market oversight. Investors seeking clarification or wishing to raise an issue can use the CMA's official channels, including its portal, call center, and complaints channels. The compensation funds are being implemented across 2025 and 2026.
