The Eastern Region has installed more than 15,000 Saudi national flags on roads, squares, and public facilities as part of its preparations for the 96th Saudi National Day in 2026, alongside a program of more than 70 events and activities planned at around 30 locations across the region's cities and governorates.
The decoration campaign, carried out by the Eastern Region Municipality and its affiliated municipalities under the directives of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, also includes over 50 banners on pedestrian bridges and buildings, 400 decorative lighting units, 250 advertising signs, 750 streetlight-pole signs, 200 national decorative structures, and 90 screens across the region.
Where to celebrate
Al Khobar's waterfront is a main venue, hosting air shows on 26–27 September 2026 at 16:30 and National Day fireworks on 23 September at 21:00. Entry to the waterfront is free, while seaside cafés and restaurants offer meals typically ranging from SAR 30 to 120
Municipal squares, corniches, and parks in Dammam, Dhahran, Qatif, Jubail, and Al Ahsa are designated for family events, heritage shows, and children's activities. Access is generally free, with food trucks and kiosks selling snacks in the SAR 10–40 range.
The program features parades and cultural performances, interactive family zones with games and photo booths, light and projection shows on selected buildings and bridges, and national-themed markets selling flags and souvenirs. Small handheld flags are typically priced around SAR 5–15, while larger outdoor flags commonly range from SAR 40 to 150 depending on size and fabric.
The large-scale campaign is part of a wider nationwide municipal initiative for National Day 96, with similar preparations underway in the Qassim and Najran regions, giving residents and families across the Eastern Region a range of free and affordable ways to mark the occasion.
