Four Saudi sports clubs moved to new ownership in 2023, as Al-Qadisiyah, Diriyah, AlUla, and Al-Suqoor were each transferred to a major national entity under the Kingdom's push to develop its football and sports sector.

Al-Qadisiyah Club was transferred to Saudi Aramco, while Diriyah Club passed to the Diriyah Gate Development Authority. AlUla Club came under the Royal Commission for AlUla, and Al-Suqoor — also known as the Falcons Club — was converted into a company owned by NEOM.

The changes are ownership arrangements rather than time-limited permits, meaning no publicly stated validity period applies. There were also no publicly announced purchase prices or fees connected to the transfers, and the moves did not require any public application steps through government platforms.

Why it matters

For fans and residents, the transfers signal fresh backing for clubs that now sit under well-resourced national institutions. This kind of investment is widely expected to support improvements in club management, facilities, and competitiveness over time, giving local supporters more to follow close to home.

Based on the current information available, there has been no later reversal of any of these four ownership transfers, and the arrangements remain in place as part of the broader development of Saudi sport.
