Gamra Mountain Resort Opens 30 Suites in Al Baha

A new high-end mountain retreat has opened in Al Baha, as Gamra Mountain Resort by Mantis begins operating 30 luxury suites on Khairah Mountain in the Kingdom's southwestern region. The resort sits on Khairah Forest Park Street at roughly 2,260 meters above sea level, positioning it among the highest hospitality destinations in the area.

The first phase features 30 tented mountain suites, each measuring around 35 to 36 square meters, with wide floor-to-ceiling windows framing views of the surrounding forested landscape. The units are designed as ecotourism accommodation blended into the natural mountain setting. Standard check-in is from 15:00, with check-out at noon.

The resort is developed by Saudi Tourism Investment Company (ASFAR), a wholly owned company of the Public Investment Fund, and is operated under the Mantis brand as a conservation- and community-focused hospitality venture. A planned second phase is set to expand the resort's total capacity to 100 rooms and suites.

The broader Gamra project spans about 70,000 square meters and is planned to include 70 luxury villas and 30 resort rooms alongside the tented suites, plus a spa, two restaurants, two cafés, an outdoor plaza, and indoor and outdoor adventure parks. An associated Adventure Park is planned as a nature-led destination featuring 14 indoor and outdoor attractions, expected around 2026.

Why it matters

The opening adds to a growing wave of upscale ecotourism in Saudi Arabia's southwest, an area increasingly recognized for its cool climate, mountains, and forests. Indicative 2026 rates for two guests on a bed-and-breakfast basis range from roughly SAR 1,800 to SAR 3,000 Reservations are handled through hotel and travel-booking channels and the resort's own published contact details, rather than government digital platforms.
