How to Set Up a Company in Saudi Arabia Online

Entrepreneurs and investors in Saudi Arabia can now complete company incorporation entirely online through the Business Platform at business.sa, operated under the Ministry of Commerce. The electronic process covers several legal forms, including the limited liability company, simple company, partnership, limited partnership, and joint-stock company.

Applicants select the company type, number of partners, company status, registration duration, headquarters, activities, business purposes, partners, management details, commercial-registration information, and articles of association. Once the application is submitted electronically, an invoice is generated for payment via SADAD or a payment card. For a limited liability company, the service is described as immediate after completion and payment.

Fees to expect

For a limited liability company, the service fee is SAR 1,200 for commercial registration plus a SAR 500 publication fee, with 15% VAT applied to chargeable fees. General commercial-registration issuance fees are listed at SAR 200 for a main registration and SAR 100 for a branch registration. The final invoice shown during submission reflects the applicable amount for the selected company type, duration, activities, and any additional services.

It is important to note that the official service page does not set a single universal total cost covering municipality licences, Chamber membership, office requirements, investment approvals, notarisation, or sector-specific licences, as these vary by case.

Foreign investors

Foreign-investor companies require a valid investment certificate with at least 30 days remaining before applying. These applications are submitted through the Saudi Business Center after obtaining the required investment approval or certificate.

The streamlined digital process reflects the Kingdom's wider push to simplify doing business and attract local and international entrepreneurs. For the community, it means faster, clearer steps to formalise a venture without multiple in-person visits. Current official information does not confirm any 2026 change to company-registration validity periods.
