Families in the Eastern Province have a growing set of cultural experiences to explore at the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra Museum) in Gharb Al Dhahran district, Dhahran, where interactive exhibitions and hands-on programs are putting Saudi heritage, crafts, and storytelling at the center of the visit.
Among the current highlights is "Echoes of the Familiar," an interactive exhibition running until Saturday, September 26, 2026. It features immersive spaces that connect visitors with narratives and visual culture drawn from Saudi experience and memory. From July 13 to November 7, 2026, the museum also hosts "Beginnings: The Origins of the Saudi Art Movement," presenting more than 150 artworks and 200 archival materials that document the development of Saudi art and its roots in local heritage.
For younger visitors, the Energy Exhibit offers over 60 interactive installations suitable for kids, teens, and adults, with bilingual content and demonstrations explaining energy and the history of Saudi oil. Children's crafts and creative activities—such as "Craft a Lavender," "Stamp of Glory," "Art Speaks Saudi," and "RoboCamel Adventure"—feature in Ithra's National Day program (September 22–27), alongside family storytelling-style experiences.
Earlier in the year, Ithra Cultural Days 2026 (January 12–31) transforms the center into a multi-space cultural season blending movement, sound, and taste, with Saudi heritage as a core reference and Spain as a guest focus.
General entry to the Ithra building is free, though some events and activations require paid tickets. The center opens Saturday to Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 11:30 PM, Thursday from 9:00 AM to 12:30 AM, and Friday from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM; it is closed on Sunday. The Children's Museum and Energy Exhibit close two hours before general closing time.
