Jeddah's streets, squares, and waterfront are increasingly functioning as a free open-air art gallery, with public sculptures and murals reshaping the city's visual landscape and available to everyone with no entrance fees and round-the-clock access.
At the heart of this scene is the Jeddah Sculpture Museum, also known as the Jeddah Open Museum, located on the Middle Corniche in the Al Hamra district between Al Kurnaysh Bridge Road and Al Andalus Street, just north of Al Anani Mosque. The waterfront park stretches over roughly 7 square kilometres and displays more than 20 large-scale sculptures. It is open all day, every day, with no tickets or charges.
Across the city, Jeddah is home to hundreds of public sculptures—commonly cited at around 400 to 600 works—installed in open urban spaces as part of long-running beautification and public art programs that treat the streetscape as a continuous outdoor museum. Notable pieces visible along the waterfront, around Al-Arbaeen Lake, and on the Corniche include works by internationally renowned artists such as Henry Moore, Joan Miró, Alexander Calder, Jean Arp, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Victor Vasarely, Lorenzo Quinn, and Julio Lafuente. All can be viewed freely from public promenades, squares, and roundabouts without booking, permits, or fees.
Recent initiatives continue to add to the city's visual identity, including Arabic calligraphy mural campaigns and painting projects such as the Colorful Corniche and works on the ROSHN Waterfront during 2024–2026. These have introduced large-scale murals and painted walkways on main roads, sidewalks, flyovers, central islands, and the southern and ROSHN waterfront corniches, all integrated into everyday streets and public squares.
For residents and visitors, the appeal is simple: none of these outdoor art areas require official e-government platforms, prior registration, or payment. They operate as standard public spaces and waterfront promenades, making Jeddah's art scene one of the most accessible in the Kingdom.
