Saudi Arabia registered close to 47,000 new companies during the first half of 2026, underscoring continued momentum in business formation and entrepreneurship across the Kingdom.
around 2.9 million services were provided to economic establishments in H1 2026. These included the establishment of about 46.9 to 47 thousand companies, the registration of roughly 87,000 establishments, and the documentation of around 3,500 e-stores.
By the second quarter of 2026, the Kingdom recorded around 1.9 million active commercial registrations, a year-on-year increase of roughly 12%, with about 71,000 new registrations issued in Q2 alone.
Licensing activity climbs
On the municipal side, more than 274,000 commercial licenses were issued and renewed in H1 2026, including over 97,000 new licenses and more than 177,000 renewals. Transactions also covered around 91,000 license amendments, about 43,000 requests to add commercial activities, and roughly 39,000 ownership transfers.
Setting up a company today runs largely through digital channels. Core steps include reserving a trade name online, selecting a legal form such as an LLC or joint-stock company, submitting incorporation data, and issuing the commercial registration through the Ministry of Commerce. Businesses then link with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, complete municipal licensing via Balady, and manage labor compliance through قوى. ناجز supports notarial and contract services, while نفاذ handles unified digital identity verification, and أبشر and مقيم cover resident and worker services where relevant.
For residents and entrepreneurs, the numbers point to a widening pool of opportunities — from new jobs to a broader base of local businesses and services in cities like الرياض, جدة and الدمام.
