Neom Ends Al-Hilal's Unbeaten Run With 2-0 Win

Al-Hilal suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Neom on Monday, September 7, 2026, in matchweek six of the Saudi Pro League. The match, played at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, brought an end to the champions' long unbeaten run in the competition.

The result stopped Al-Hilal's 47-match unbeaten streak in the Saudi Pro League and ended a perfect start to the 2026-27 season, which had seen the Riyadh club win its first five league games. In all competitions, Al-Hilal had gone 54 consecutive matches without defeat before Monday's loss.

Neom opened the scoring in the 16th minute through an own goal by Al-Hilal defender Kalidou Koulibaly. Amadou Kone doubled the visitors' advantage in the 45th minute, sending the sides into the break with a two-goal cushion that Neom would protect to the final whistle.

The victory was Neom's first over Al-Hilal, a notable milestone for the newly prominent club. It also marked the first league defeat for Al-Hilal coach Simone Inzaghi since he took charge of the team in 2025.

For football fans across Riyadh and the wider Kingdom, the result reshapes the early standings of the season and signals a more competitive title race. Al-Hilal will now look to respond quickly and rebuild momentum as the campaign continues.
