Bader AlReziza Elected New Saudi Football Chief

Bader bin Suleiman AlReziza was elected president of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation on 30 August 2026, during an Extraordinary General Assembly meeting held in Riyadh. He begins a four-year term running from 2026 to 2030.

AlReziza was elected by acclamation, as no ballot was required. Only one eligible candidate list had been approved ahead of the assembly, meaning members endorsed the leadership without a formal vote.

He succeeds Yasser Al-Misehal, who had led the federation prior to the new term. The transition marks the start of a fresh administrative cycle for the body that oversees football across the Kingdom.

Why it matters

Football remains the most followed sport in Saudi Arabia, with a large fan base among residents and expatriate communities in cities such as Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. Leadership at the federation shapes the direction of national teams, domestic competitions and grassroots development.

The new term arrives during a period of significant growth in Saudi football, as the Kingdom continues to expand its presence in the sport at both the club and national levels. The coming four years will set the agenda for how the game develops and how fans engage with it across the country.
