New AlUla Book Explores Umm Daraj and Lihyan Kingdom

The Royal Commission for AlUla has published a new archaeological volume titled “Umm Daraj: Beacon of the Lihyan Kingdom,” authored by Dr. Hussein bin Ali Abu Al Hassan. The book documents the Umm Daraj site and its connections to the historic Lihyan Kingdom in AlUla.

The volume is issued in three languages — Arabic, English, and French — making it accessible to both residents and international visitors interested in the region's deep heritage.

The book is currently available for purchase at three retail outlets across AlUla Governorate: the Royal Commission store in AlUla Old Town, the gift shop at the Hegra archaeological site, and the gift shop at AlUla International Airport. No special permit, ticket, or registration is required solely to buy the book at these outlets, though the usual venue access rules apply, such as standard visitor ticketing for the Hegra site.

Why it matters

The publication is part of the Royal Commission's ongoing archaeological and heritage program in AlUla, tied to the 2025–26 archaeology season, which continues research on heritage sites in both AlUla and Khaybar. For residents and history enthusiasts, the volume offers a documented, scholarly window into one of the region's most significant ancient civilizations.

Prices for the book are set at the retail outlets and are not publicly listed in advance. There are no online purchase channels or delivery arrangements announced for this specific title at this time.
