Employees in Saudi Arabia's private and nonprofit sectors will enjoy a paid one-day National Day holiday on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, corresponding to 12 Rabi' al-Thani 1448 AH. Normal wages continue for eligible employees during the holiday.
The holiday is granted under Article 24 of the Executive Regulations of the Saudi Labor Law. It applies specifically to the National Day observance and covers workers across private-sector companies and nonprofit organizations.
Employers are required to apply the holiday for their staff. If employees are asked to work on that day, employers must follow the compensatory-work provisions set out in Article 24(2) of the regulations.
What employees need to do
There is nothing for workers to submit. No registration or application is required through Absher, Muqeem, Qiwa, Nafath, or any other platform, and there are no fees or costs involved. The holiday is applied automatically to eligible employees.
This decision applies only to the 23 September 2026 National Day holiday. For families and workers across Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and beyond, it means an extra paid day off to mark the national occasion, without any paperwork or added expense.
