PIL Adds IRF Service at Jeddah Islamic Port

Global shipping company PIL has added a new shipping service, named IRF, to Jeddah Islamic Port in Saudi Arabia, expanding container connectivity across the Red Sea.

The IRF service links Jeddah Islamic Port with the ports of Sokhna and Safaga in Egypt. It operates with a reported capacity of 1,261 TEUs, offering a fresh route for cargo moving between the two countries.

The addition strengthens container links along the Red Sea corridor, one of the busiest maritime trade routes connecting the Kingdom with regional and international markets. Jeddah Islamic Port remains a key gateway for Saudi Arabia's import and export activity on the western coast.

Why it matters

For businesses and traders in the Kingdom, expanded shipping connectivity can mean smoother movement of goods and more options for cargo travelling between Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Greater capacity and additional routes help support trade flows that many local companies and consumers ultimately rely on.

The launch reflects continued investment in the Kingdom's port and logistics network, an area that plays a growing role in linking Saudi markets with neighbouring economies across the Red Sea.
