Qassim University in Buraydah, Al-Qassim, has been added to the recognized institutions list of the Society of Actuaries (SOA), becoming the third Saudi university to earn a place among the international professional body's recognized programs, effective 23 August 2026.
The university's Bachelor of Actuarial and Financial Mathematics program received recognition at the UCAP-IC tier, confirming that its curriculum aligns with SOA university recognition standards and covers material relevant to SOA preliminary exams and required competencies.
Approved VEE coursework
As part of the recognition, the program's coursework has been approved for Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) in three areas: economics, accounting and finance, and mathematical statistics. This allows students to satisfy these VEE requirements through specified university courses rather than sitting separate professional exams in those subjects.
Qassim University now joins King Saud University and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals on the SOA recognition list. The latter two universities are listed at the UCAP-AC tier, while Qassim University holds the UCAP-IC tier.
The recognition is academic and curriculum-based. Fees and processes for SOA exams and VEE remain governed by the SOA's own international structures, and there is no separate Saudi-denominated accreditation fee or local platform process attached to this listing.
The development supports Qassim University's broader quality framework. Its institutional academic accreditation from the National Center for Academic Assessment and Accreditation in Saudi Arabia is renewed on a full, unconditional basis for the period 2020–2027. For students in the Qassim Region and across the Kingdom, the recognition opens a clearer path toward internationally aligned actuarial careers in insurance, finance, and risk management.
