Saudi Construction Index Rises to 55.4 in August 2026

Saudi Arabia's construction sector continued to grow in August 2026, as the monthly Saudi Construction Index rose to 55.4 points, up from 55.2 points in July. Any reading above the 50.0 threshold points to expansion, and the latest figure signals steady momentum across the industry.

The index is a seasonally adjusted survey based on responses from about 200 construction companies operating in the Kingdom, chosen to reflect the overall structure of the sector. It measures business conditions, output, new orders, employment and activity levels, rather than official fees, permit costs or contract prices.

Growth was broad-based across the main sub-sectors. Residential construction led with a reading of around 57.5 points, while infrastructure came in near 53.9 points and non-residential activity registered about 53.5 points. All three remained above 50.0, indicating expansion in each area.

Recent months have shown strong new orders and rising business activity. July's reading of 55.2 points was the second highest since the survey began in January 2026, and August's figure extended that positive trend.

Why it matters

For residents and businesses across the Kingdom, a rising construction index reflects continued investment in housing, commercial projects and public infrastructure — activity that supports jobs and shapes the built environment in cities such as الرياض and جدة.

It is worth noting that the index is an economic indicator only. It is compiled by a financial institution in cooperation with an international data provider and shared through economic reports and market commentary. It is not linked to government service platforms and does not set or announce any official fees, permit charges or validity periods.
