Saudi Business Confidence Rises to 56.7 in August

Business confidence in Saudi Arabia strengthened in August 2026, with the Kingdom's Business Confidence Index reaching 56.7 points, up from 56.5 points in July. The reading remained comfortably above the 50-point neutral mark, pointing to continued optimism about economic activity across the country.

The index tracks expectations in the non-oil sector, covering output, inputs, employment, business development, and expansion plans. A score above 50 reflects a positive outlook among firms about the months ahead.

Both major sectors contributed to the gain. The industrial-sector index rose to 55.8 points, while the services-sector index climbed to 56.1 points, up from 55.3 points in July. The services improvement helped lift the overall figure and underscores the breadth of confidence across different parts of the economy.

Why it matters

Sustained business optimism often translates into hiring, investment, and new projects, which directly affect residents and expats through job opportunities, new openings, and expanding services. For small and medium enterprises, a confident outlook can mean greater willingness to grow and recruit.

The momentum appears to have continued beyond August, with the latest available reading standing at 56.6 points in September 2026. Staying above the 50-point threshold for consecutive months suggests the non-oil economy remains on a steady and positive footing as the Kingdom pushes ahead with economic diversification.
