Saudi Entertainment Centers Rise 62% to 8,462

The number of active commercial registrations for entertainment centers in Saudi Arabia reached 8,462 by the end of the first half of 2026, marking an increase of roughly 62% over two years. The figure stood at 5,216 in 2024 and rose to 7,640 in 2025 before reaching its current level.

Regional data at mid-2026 show the growth concentrated in the country's largest population hubs. Riyadh led with 3,580 active registrations, followed by Makkah with 2,295 and the Eastern Province with 933.

How licensing works

Entertainment-center licensing is regulated by the General Entertainment Authority (GEA). Applications are submitted through the GEA's Tarfeeh portal, with an alternative licensing email available if the portal cannot be used. Applicants must file the required application and supporting documents, meet the conditions for the relevant activity, obtain approval, and then pay the issuance or renewal fee set by the authority.

The published requirements do not specify a single universal issuance fee, renewal fee, or license-validity period, as these depend on the specific license or activity and the authority's assessment. The government service listing shows the Entertainment Centre License Request as carrying no service charge, though this does not necessarily exclude later licensing or regulatory fees. A separate Balady commercial-license process may also apply, requiring a municipal application and payment of the applicable fee for instant activities, or municipal review for non-instant ones.

The steady rise in registrations points to expanding investment in the sector and wider entertainment options for residents and families across the Kingdom's main cities. For entrepreneurs and small businesses, the trend signals a growing market, though prospective operators should confirm the exact conditions and fees for their chosen activity through official channels before applying.
