The Saudi researcher Dr. Shaza Mohammed Abo'Ouf has been selected as an international triathlon judge for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, set to take place in Japan. She joins a panel of 24 international judges chosen for the event.

Dr. Abo'Ouf is the only Saudi representative among the appointed officials. Her selection came through a nomination by the Saudi Triathlon Federation, which put her forward for the international role.

As part of her duties, she will be responsible for monitoring races and ensuring that triathlon rules and regulations are properly applied throughout the competition.

Why it matters

The appointment marks a notable step for Saudi presence in international sports officiating, highlighting the growing role of Saudi professionals on the global stage. It also reflects the expanding participation of Saudi women in competitive sports and administration.

Triathlon, which combines swimming, cycling, and running, continues to gain visibility in the Kingdom as part of wider efforts to develop sports and encourage community involvement across disciplines.
